Buying a Camp...!
Brown Hill Road is on Hillsboro Mountain in Starksboro, which is one of the beginning gateway mountains to the Green Mountain National Forest. This is the view of Sugarbush (Lincoln Mountain, Mount Abraham) from Hillsboro Mountain.
This is a photo of the Beers Atlas from 1879. The road going horizontal through the middle is called "Brown Hill Road" it is 4 1/2 miles long and it goes over Hillsboro Mountain. Danielle and I lived at the bottom of this road on the Huntington side before moving from Starksboro to Southern Vermont. It was an old road in the 1800's used to get to Starksboro from Huntington. Now it is a class 4 (unmaintained) road/town trail and it is the VAST snowmobile trail in the winter. It's an old mountain road that you need a truck to drive part way up and then near the top it turns into a hiking trail. This is also the road I asked Danielle to marry me on on Halloween 2006. We used to hike/snowmobile/mountain bike over the mountain and have picnics and spend a lot of time up there which is one of the reasons I was looking for a camp in this particular area. Plus, since it's close to Burlington, it should be easier to visit our friends up there. The Camp we bought is kinda near the letter D where it says "Dist No 15." It's a mile up in the middle of the woods, surrounded by forest, with tons of trails all around. It's only 30 mins to Burlington and 20 minutes to Mad River Glen Ski Area (the best ski area in Vermont).
Right near the 4 acres we have under contract is the remnants of a cool old mill. A brook forms the northern boundary of the property. There are lots of old cellar holes from the 1800's all over the mountain, and even 2 unmarked abandoned cemeteries. Lots of stone walls, old abandoned roads (that are now trails), and farm land from when people lived up in the hills before moving down to where the town center is now.

It's August, which means I start celebrating Halloween
This is the Half Pipe at Mount Snow. That's a 4 foot extension. Rock to fakie. Scary stuff, but I stuck it. I was super psyched, good day to skate. I hit this ramp after work on days that end in Y. I need to move my office here.
This post wouldn't be complete without another photo of Danielle walking with the kids at our house on the trails. The had a great time exploring our land and checking out the X-C ski trails.
Beware: Tasmanian Devil sighting above. That's Netanel (america's most wanted), and Ayden at the top of Glastenbury Mountain on the firetower in August. 6 mile hike and a perfectly sunny day. We had a blast and I was glad they got to see this special mountain. Ayden had to carry Ashley back to my truck though.

Mom and Ashley yakking at the Wardsboro House. We watched this awesome movie called "King Of Kong: A Fistful Of Quarters." It's about the all-time Donkey Kong champion. Sounds boring right. Well that what I thought until I saw it, and then I realized it was one of the greatest films of all-time. I went right out and bought it. I do like Green Eggs and Ham Sam I Am.
The kids are alright............
Danielle with Andrea, Alex, Emma and Courtney, Jamie and Mark behind our house near the fire pit when they came over for Danielle's birthday. They all beat me in bowling.
Walking on our trails behind our house.

Jenna, the newest addition, honks Danielle's nose. When she honked it, Danielle's nose actually made a car horn noise, which was baffling. (something Danielle would never let me do, but the kids can get away with that!)
Don't be mistaken, Mom was skating, I was just holding her board. I skated this year in the 4th of July Parade in Brattleboro. There was like 20 of us skating, it ruled to be able to skate down main street in the parade. This shot was taken at the Common right after the parade. Mom landed some sick tricks that day.
Photos from the past few months of Danielle and I in Cosmo:
Danielle and I have been chipping away at the Long Trail now for 3 years. We're almost done. We have about 85 miles left to go of the 273 mile trip. This photo was taken in the middle of August as we went over Smugglers Notch. Beautiful Day. This hike was hard. It was like carrying an ostrich through a gravel pit for 8 hours.
Danielle and I have cut a ton of ski/snowmobile/hiking trails on Grandma's 300 acre farm over the past 2 years. Here's the entrance. I put up blue blazes and everything. Psyched to snowmobile them this winter hopefully. Diane holds on and almost chokes me and screams the whole time :)

Brought Mom to a cave in Dorset Vermont. Dorset Batcave. Fortunately, Mom and I didn't go in so it didn't turn into the movie the Descent. This was taken on Mother's Day - awesomely enough - right after this photo was taken is started snowing! When I woke up in Wilmington that day we had a dusting of snow on the ground...in May....that's right 8 months of winter in Wilmington...sounds great to me!!
1) Jim is one of the best dudes in the history of life.
2) Sejal seems so incredibly rad I couldn't be more psyched for her to join our crazy family
3) He had this giant vat of Lucky Charms. I ate like 142 bowls of Lucky Charms. It made my lifetime. Oh man. I wish he and Sejal would have a wedding every year. So much fun!!
