MORE MILES ON THE SNOWMOBILE THAN ON THE CAR THIS WINTER
Pa and I went 33 miles in the National Forest the other day up to the top of the Firetower on Glastenbury Mountain. This photo was taken from the top of the Firetower. It is widely agreed the the view from the top of Glastenbury is the best in Vermont. You can see the most expansive and contiguous wilderness of any view in Vermont. Also, at 3, 747 feet, I believe it's the highest place you can snowmobile on the VAST trail in Vermont.
Bromley from the top of Glastenbury
Winter wonderland. The more the merrier.
Our snowmobile is the ancient relic all the way on the left. It was built when Ronald Reagan was President. People snowmobile by us on the trail and probably say "look at that ancient antique dilapitated pile of garbage" but you know what, it keeps on ticking and cost us 1/10th of what they paid for theirs! ha!

The Firetower on top of Glastenbury. The view rules. When you go to Heaven, it must be one of the views you get to see all the time.
I trekked 3.5 miles on the long trail along the Stark Mountain / Appalachian Gap ridgeline carrying my skis so I could ski Mad River for free on a beautiful snowy day. I hiked in a t shirt I was so hot through feet of snow. It took all afternoon. The hike was hard, but the views at the top of Mad River Glen were incredible that day and I got a nice 5 1/2 mile run in!!....Free!
Those White Mountains way in the distance....are....The White Mountains!! You could see Mount Washington from the top of Mad River Glen the day I hiked it. Awesome. Mount Washington rules more than George Washington, Washington DC, or Washing Laundry.
Danielle and I snowmobiled to the top of Haystack Mountain in January on a trail that was ultra sketchy but we made it. The view was rad, check it out. You can see space.
As you can see none of the photos in this post are in order. I don't do order. This snowstorm (beginning February 24th) so far we've gotten 31 inches of snow!! 31 inches from one storm!! This photo of my snow measuring yard stick was taken from my driveway today. Incredible and we're supposed to get even more!! Maybe we'll even break three feet which almost never happens!! I took two days off of work this storm was so massive. Got first tracks at Mount Snow yesterday and made it up there early today - my 28th day out skiing this season. The powder was up to your waist. Unbelievably good skiing.
View from on top of Mad River Glen
One of the greatest places on earth. The Starks Nest Cabin on top of Mad River Glen. Hike up in the afternoon with a bunch of friends, make a fire in the cabin, spend the night, get first tracks down in the morning as soon as the sun comes up. Life doesn't get any better than that.
Owl near our house on Higley Hill. It's so tough to take a decent picture of an Owl, but it would help if I knew how to use a camera properly.
I'm smiling because I'm at the top of the Firetower on Glastenbury Mountain, but the windchill was like negative -2392375
Danielle and I took a trip to the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont last weekend (Feb 21st) and snowmobiled 72 miles in the most rural, remote parts of Vermont....we went all the way to Canada. Here's old faithful parked in front of the border.
At the border with Danielle after snowmobiling all the way from Brighton, Vermont. They have 99 cent pizza slices in Canada that kick ass, which that alone makes the Country worth visiting. Pizza slices are my kind of tourist attraction!!
Danielle blocking out the glare at the Annual Deerfield Valley Snowmobilers Hot Dog Roast in January. Ps - there aren't a lot of Danielle snowmobiling photos on here because she doesn't like photos of her when she takes of her helmet and looks like Don King.
First of 3 ascents up to the firetower in Glastenbury this year. We've put almost 1000 miles our snowmobile this winter!!
Silent Night.
Pa waving from the bottom of the firetower before we headed back towards Somerset. Pa is a good rider and we had a blast going all over Stratton, Woodford, Somerset and Glastenbury.

Rest in Peace Ken Fisher,
Keep Smiling.
